Board recertification must stay for political reasons, but must be made non-crazy
We cannot get rid of "recertification." The public and the politicians will not go for that. It will strengthen the "MOC industry" to argue for complete recertification elimination, we would be digging our own graves in that regard. We can demand that the insanity of recertification must stop and that recertification via reasonable means is needed. The method of the NBPAS is the correct model: 1. Active license 2. Some level of medical practice (i.e. not retired) 3. CMEs 4. Maybe some level of no active license sanctions or active disciplinary stuff (i.e. not malpractice stuff) 5. The NBPAS also has some specifics for surgery that are also reasonable and not crazy. This is what basically existed before the MOC industry started--if you need to maintain hospital credentials that is.

We want to hear from you.
